If you have ever watched a Biblical based movie or paid close attention to the Pharisees in the Bible - when something happened or was said that they thought was a personal attack on God Himself they would tear their clothes and say BLASPHEMY!!!! Most of the time in the movies they make it seem so dramatic that it just strikes me as funny. Remember they did this to Jesus when they pushed Him to say He was God. But Jesus held His peace. And the high priest answered and said unto Him, I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus said unto him, You have said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall you see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent (tore) his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now you have heard His blasphemy. Matt.26:63-65 A few weeks ago someone shared a video with me. They wanted me to watch it as they felt it would be informative as to what is happening in our world. They really seemed to sing the praises of this speaker. I watched the video. The lady had a room full of people she was speaking to and also the speech was recorded. She made some very good points and the information was valid. At the beginning of this speech she was telling the people at the meeting - God bless you and so on. Not much later she was cursing here and there. Then in just a bit she took God's name in vain. Right there is the time that a Christian in Biblical days would have torn his clothes and yelled BLASPHEMY!!! It is the time that today, as "true christians" we should be offended and hurt on behalf of our God. No one batted an eye and the meeting rolled on. I already had a bead on her relationship with God when she was cursing, but after she took His name in vain, I knew there was no relationship with God at all. That should tell a christian many things. She is not reporting information from a Godly perspective. She is not hearing from the Lord. You are probably not going to be in total agreement because of that fact. We must learn to discern true relationships with the Lord. We cannot just accept what the world accepts. God's standard is high - it is HOLY. Not only did she take His name in vain, later on she was right back to saying God bless you to the people there. Many people today who call themselves Christians are not really in a true relationship with Jesus Christ at all. They think what she did was ok. It's not. You actually have no right to bless anything in His name after you have just blasphemed His name. Of course she can repent, of course she can ask forgiveness, but we should not be so casual and accepting of this kind of behavior. If it is a non-believer, it is to be expected. But a non-believer has not right to the name of God. Same as an unbeliever has no right to the blood of Jesus Christ or the use of His name. It will have no effect if they try to speak it out. Just like the 7 sons of Sceva who got torn up by demons because they used the name of Jesus but did not even know Him intimately. Let's clean up our act church. Let's rise above mediocrity and strive to live a holier life for Him. Jesus is coming back for His bride so soon. It's crunch time.
